From the back of his Ute with his apprenticeship in his back pocket, Darwin boilermaker Mick Carey started out fixing cracked tinnies and making quad racks for his mates.
Word of his specialist marine skills quickly spread, and Mick soon landed a contract to re-fit a fleet of commercial trawling vessels. Business exploded from then on as Mick’s reputation grew and he upgraded from shed to shed to meet the mounting demand for his workmanship.
Today, five years later, Mick’s Ally Fab has a professional and busy crew of six welders and boilermakers and is headquartered in a fully-equipped 630sqm workshop in the heart of Winnellie.
